With films that are immersive and captivating, Javi Navarro, the filmmaker behind Laguna Santa, knows exactly how to have fun with his couples while capturing the real emotion behind their story.

His cinematography is dynamic, handheld, and a little shaky. He's experimental with his shots and sequencing, usually straying from the typical wedding video. Often visiting couples months before the wedding, Javi spends real time with them, so the final film reflects who they are as a whole, and not just a single day. His editing has shifted over time too, moving from a flatter, film-inspired palette to a brighter, more saturated look. His work tends to attract couples who are willing to be part of the process: comfortable talking to the camera, open to a pre-wedding shoot, and drawn to movement over posed portraits. Above all else, Javi values honesty. He never choreographs, and he favors speeches, interviews, and candid audio over decor or detail shots. He'll sometimes hand a couple a Super 8 camera and let them run with it, but he never tells them how to act, and he steers clear of staged, cinematic gestures in favor of things a couple would actually do together, like playing tennis or jumping in a pool.

In 2025, seven of Laguna Santa's weddings were featured in Vogue, with an additional feature in Over the Moon. The Wed also named Javi among the “Top 25 Videographers in the World” and “Top 11 Videographers in Europe”.
